From the pen of MammaJ #Food_for_thought

From the pen of MammaJ ‪#‎Food_For_Thought‬ Super rugby is upon us.... Warm up games are about to kick off. Then follow the Rugby chamionships and the Rugby Word Cup. Judging from various FB blogs I am affiliated to, peeps cant wait for the rugby to kick off; yes, me included :) The media have dropped various tidbits thus far; the Stormers captaincy, the potential squads etc etc With it comes the usual proudly South African politics, why not Juan for captain, who has the best chance of topping the SA conference, old Springboks leaning the way of their old clubs and many more interesting reads.

That aside, I have one contentious issue- Individual franchise/country preference. Many South Africans will be sporting various jerseys - STMRS, Bulls, Emirates Lions, Saaks, Cheetahs,.All Blacks,.Crusaders etc You have guessed, the latter two is the issue here. Every All Black and Super rugby game I have ever attended comes with bickering over jersey choices, and All Black games simply come with post match fist trading. ‪#‎Traitor‬ is the common word used. Do I have a problem with a non SA jersey on a South African, yes I do, who wouldnt, I'm South African.

But wait, there is more. Lets look at the "more" Away from rugby no big secret that the vast majority of South Africans are die hard supporters of the ManU, Gunners,.Barcelona's, Real Madrid's and the like. They own these jerseys too never you mind. 2010 SWC saw enough England, Spain, Italy, Argentina and Brazil jerseys on South African bodies, not forgetting a sea of red (South Africans) some time ago at Loftus ManU vs Kaizer Chiefs. At this point you are probably starting squirm in your seat if just a wee bit not so, no pun intended lol.

I am the owner of all of the mentioned items below: 1) Lions/Cats jerseys/jackets/flags 2) Springbok jerseys/jackets/flags 3) Bafana jersey/jacket and the '96 Caf cup jersey- FNB stadium (attended) 4) A Bulls jersey signed by Brian Habana I ‪#‎Do_Not‬ support over seas soccer; I watch games in the name of sport. Who wins/loses is not my problem. I certainly don't go into mourning because ManU is on a periodic uncharacteristic down. Did eg ManU mourn Bafana's loss and missed opportunities on Monday evening like South Africans mourn ManU? Actually, how many English, Italian, Brazilian fans overseas know who are Chiefs, Pirates, Sundowns, and and and.

I march on. The South African All Black saga ‪#‎does‬ come with a history, yes it does, it is/was there and it is/was real. Some of us have the ability to move on from there, some of us dont, who is to judge either way? #Food_For_Thought. How patriotic are you REALLY? How many fingers points away from you, upwards and towards YOU when you chirp a "traitor"? Just asking Happy small Friday ‪#‎MammaJLion4life
