Fist and foremost, allow me to wish all Blindside readers a very blessed and prosperous 2015. It is a new year and it goes without saying, ‘one that holds its own challenges. I have not entirely been in holiday mood as I was working for much of the holidays in establishing my business. I did take some time out from writing and posting articles.

Posting on this blog/website is very dear and close to my heart as it gave me the opportunity to share views and opinions. Although reading is not my favourite past time, I find myself constantly researching and reading up on sports as it is my passion. It inspires me to write. Who knows who picks up on it and something big might transpires.

Blindside also serves as a platform for others to write and put their work out to for sports fans to create dialogue about sports locally and globally. One of my close friends, Marco Jacobs, is one of those that always writes his weekly column called Marco’s Monday Review. I have had people commenting on his articles and asking when the next one will appear. Marco also took a well-deserved break but he is back and another one of his popular reviews will follow soon.

And then someone started interacting with me via Facebook mentioning that she loves sports and its rich history and have a few articles that she wants to get out there. Well that lady goes by the name of Jeanita Sayers. She is a Lioness,…literally, as she is a fierce Lions supporter but also a supporter of local sport. So much so that she gave me a good kick under the butt due to none activity on the Blindside page for some time. I got her message loud and clear. And article of Jeanita will appear on Blindside very soon.

Having said that, we do this in our own time and do and do not receive any remuneration for the work we do but it is to use our skills, knowledge and experiences to elevate sports in our local communities. To inform and uplift and to help nurture the general understanding of sport and hopefully it helps local athletes, coaches and administrators to achieve greater things that they could have ever imagined. Should someone want to advertise, we certainly won’t show them away but what I meant was that just many sports clubs operate, we invest our own time and resources.

I want to thank these both Marco and Jeanita and hopefully we will hear and see a lot from them in the not so far future. They do take some of their precious family time to read up and analyse sports on a daily basis and write these articles. May we continue to support local and national sport and continue to inspire others to do the same. Let us leave a lasting legacy in sharing knowledge, creating opportunities and give exposure to community sports and local talent.
